From the crack of a wounded heart, a phoenix rises—fire becoming form, darkness becoming dawn. This piece speaks to the quiet battles so many of us fight within: the heaviness of grief, the sting of shame, the ache of feeling “too much” or “not enough.” The embers at the base echo rock-bottom moments, while the upward surge of flame becomes wings—proof that healing isn’t a straight line, but a climb through heat, ash, and courage.
 
I created this painting as a reminder that mental health journeys are not about perfection; they’re about returning to yourself, one breath at a time. The glow along the bird’s chest suggests the first spark of self-compassion. The spreading wings honor boundaries reclaimed, voices found, and communities that hold us while we mend. Even with the heart’s visible fracture, the light doesn’t leak out—it fuels the rise.
